On World Refugee Day, we come together to recognize the courage and to reflect on the plight of millions of refugees around the globe who have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict, persecution, or natural disasters.

It’s a poignant reminder and a call to action- for us to extend our hands in support, to advocate for organizations such as Danish Refugee Council, I Know My Rights, and James Ryken Centre of Hope that protect the rights of refugees and working towards creating inclusive communities where everyone can find safety and rebuild their lives.

As we witness the staggering numbers of displaced individuals and families worldwide, it becomes increasingly clear that each of us can play a meaningful role in making a difference. Through advocacy, donations, or volunteering our time, every of our effort counts towards providing relief, shelter, and hope to those who need it most. Our philanthropy plays a crucial role in addressing the immediate and long-term needs of refugees.

Let’s make this day a moment of meaningful action and solidarity as we come together as a community. By making your goodwill vows, we empower refugees in their journey towards a better future.

A Poem from the Heart: In a Time Like This

As I seat and consider the various conflict that have risen in the past years and it’s consequences. Putting pen to paper, these are the words that flow from me to you.

As you read, I hope it speaks to you and most importantly motivate you to action.

In the shadow of war, our world bears deep scars,

The bitter taste of conflict has filled the mouths of so many countries,

In effect, echoes of pain and strife reaching far and wide.

The percolation of tears daily into the soil from fathers, mothers and children over an enigma they can never wish for but found themselves in.

How did we get to this stage of inflicting so much pain upon ourselves?

How do some smile while watching or listening to this tragedy?

Remember a man shows his character by what he laughs at.

How did we become our own problems as humans?

We always rush to pick up the stick and point where the problem is coming from

We avoid using our fingers cause some might be pointing towards us.

Let’s narrow the scope,

We complain about conflict but we have misunderstanding with our neighbors,

We complain about conflict but we don’t talk to our friends,

We complain about conflict but we do hate some of our family members,

Yet charity begins at home.

I know saying the truth these days is as difficult as supporting Manchester United with a straight face,

But there is one thing I know, if you give bad food to your stomach, it will drum for you to dance.

In a nutshell,

War creates room for favoritism and hate but peace unites,

Because peace doesn’t take sides,

Let’s sow seeds of peace in the soil of our hearts,

Guiding our steps towards a world where peace and love can breakthrough.

Different types of peace, negative and positive and I know Absolute peace cannot be easily achieved

for even the most beautiful fig also contains a worm,

Hence, let’s stop the fighting

Don’t allow hate push you to war

Don’t allow anger push you to war

Don’t allow fear push you to war

It’s not because you are thirsty that you drink from any cup you see.

If you choose to fight, you have chosen to fight alone,

Cause some of us prefer peace and stand for peace

For If evil last for a long time, it will become a tradition

Hence, you don’t choose what you meet but you choose what you keep, for silence is also a speech.
